TRUST THE PROCESS YOU AREN’T READY YET

If you are like me you have questioned why God did not answer your prayer when you thought He should. I have had people prophesize over me, with the great things God had in store for me. However, years later that prophecy hadn’t come to past. Why? Could it be that they were wrong or misinformed? Could it be that God was lying to them? Or, could it be that the promise was conditional, and I did not fulfill my part of the obligation. In most cases the latter is true. We must realize that all of the promises of God come with a condition of some kind. For example, Abram had to separate himself from his family before God would bless him. (Gen 12: 1-3) If Abram had not obeyed God instruction, he would have never received the blessing. In the book of Isaiah it states that if you are willing and obedient you will eat the good of the land. (Ish 1:19)

It is important for us to realize that we have a part to play in obtaining God’s blessings for our lives. It does not happen automatically. It’s not going to happen just because you get excited and jump up and down, and say Praise God at the top of your lungs. It will happen when you obey the instructions that God has given you through His Spirit: His Word, or the person He has designated to instruct you.

When I was in grad school, I had a professor who constantly told us just to, “Trust the process” and we would get through school. Sometimes, I have to admit, I was overwhelmed with all the homework and studies. But, three years later, I graduated. I often look back with fondness about the experience I had with my fellow graduate students- How we would complain about the amount of work we had to do. It was like being in an academic boot camp for three years. But now, I am grateful for the experience.

In the same way, the Spirit of God can prepare you for what God has assigned for you. We must trust God that He will complete what He promised us; if we will do our part. I would have never graduated, if I did not follow the instructions of my professors. Likewise, we must commit ourselves to following the guidance of the LORD, if we are to achieve what He desires us to achieve. I was reading one of my favorite scriptures in the book of Jeremiah. It says, “Blessed is the man that trust in God for he will be like a tree planted by the water. It will not fear when the heat comes nor will be afraid in the year of a drought, but it will continue to produce its fruit without ceasing”. (Jer17:7-8) One day, the Spirit of the LORD told me to continue reading the next two verses.

What I saw was why God will delay our blessings.
